The Truth About Termites

Termites are a concern in 49 out of 50 states
There are about 2,000 known species of termites throughout the world. In the U.S., Subterranean termites, including Eastern, Western, Desert and Formosans, which build underground nests, are a concern in every state except Alaska. Subterranean termites are extremely destructive because they tunnel their way to wooden structures (like your home), into which they burrow to obtain food. Termites all share a virtually insatiable appetite for wood and other cellulose-containing materials. Given enough time, they will feed on the wood until nothing is left but a shell.

Termite Control Treatment Inspection McKinney, Princeton, Frisco, Allen, Plano, and ProsperSubterranean termites (Reticulitermes flavipes) are the most common termites found in North Texas. Termites cause millions of dollars in damage each year to property. Usually they enter a building or home by building a tunnel up the foundation and into a weep hole or crack between the foundation and the structure. The tunnel id composed of dirt and excretions from the termite to glue the dirt particles together. This protects them from their natural predators and the weather. They may also enter around plumbing coming from the ground into the house.

Control of these termites is accomplished by applying a termiticide around the perimeter of the structure and treating underneath the slab where termites are found inside, with an EPA registered chemical such as Termidor.

Termite control is NOT a good do-it-yourself project! Termite control should only be performed by licensed pest control technicians with the proper tools and knowledge to get the job done without damaging your home. We use the most effective chemicals for long term control and safety. (I.e Termidor, Altriset)

Termite Control Treatment Inspection McKinney, Princeton, Frisco, Allen, Plano, and ProsperWhat is Termidor?
Termidor is a professionally applied termite defense product that is undetectable to drywood and subterranean termites. Since its introduction, over 3.75 million homes have been protected with Termidor, making it America’s #1 termite defense product.

What makes Termidor different from other termite control options?
Like many other termite control products, Termidor termiticide/insecticide is a liquid—but that’s where the similarities end. Among liquid termiticides, Termidor is the most effective. That’s because Termidor is undetectable so termites neither avoid its treatment zone nor try to find a way around it.

Some nonrepellent liquids claim to be “nearly,” “virtually,” or “almost” as effective, but the difference between “almost as good as Termidor” and Termidor itself can make all the difference in the world when it comes to protecting your home from termites.

What types of termites does Termidor control in North Texas?
Termidor controls Subterranean termites, including the extremely destructive Formosan Subterranean termites and Drywood termites.
